HealthForce Partners California and UC Davis School of Medicine Launch Partnership to Grow Physician Workforce
New Collaboration Expands Pathways for Future Physicians in High-Need Regions
Stockton, Calif., September 16, 2025 — HealthForce Partners California today announced a formal education and training partnership with the UC Davis School of Medicine, a major step in strengthening the physician workforce pipeline across high-need regions in the state.
This collaboration connects HealthForce Partners with one of the nation’s leading public medical schools. Together, the institutions will work to design and implement training programs that align with the real-time needs of healthcare employers and provide accessible pathways into high-demand careers for students in priority regions.
“This partnership with the UC Davis School of Medicine is a powerful validation of what we’ve built,” said Paul Lanning, CEO of HealthForce Partners California. “In just a few short years, we’ve proven that our model works: it brings the right partners together, trains people for in-demand roles, and creates lasting change in communities. Now, with one of the nation’s top academic medical centers officially at the table, we’re not just expanding, we’re scaling with purpose. This is how we meet the workforce challenge head-on, and ensure that more communities have access to both healthcare and economic opportunity.”
The new partnership between HealthForce Partners and UC Davis School of Medicine strengthens their shared mission to expand opportunities in high-need regions by creating pathways for local residents to become physicians. With this innovative partnership, the institutions will deepen collaboration on clinical training, curriculum alignment and career exploration across the continuum of care. A key focus will be developing medical residency programs that encourage future physicians to stay in the region and help build a physician workforce rooted in the communities it serves.
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to expanding access to education, clinical training and career pathways for students from communities with physician shortages and inadequate access to high quality care,” said Dr. Mark Servis, Vice Dean for Medical Education, UC Davis School of Medicine. “Together with HealthForce Partners and employer partners, we are building a future physician workforce that is optimally trained to meet the community’s needs.”
